Disruptiv Pattern Cutting Software was first teased with a yellow square and a launch date.

And when it dropped on February 10, 2025, it disrupted every corner of the window film and paint protection film (PPF) industries.

Four months later, Disruptiv Program Manager Billy ‘Frickin’ Murray sat down with Director of Communications Chris Collier to reflect on a community of installers who’ve helped shape and grow the program into what it is today.

Collier: How many window film and PPF patterns has Disruptiv added since its February 10, 2025, launch?
Murray: 2,182! We’re already on our fourth iteration of the platform, just four months in. Disruptiv is available to anyone in any country. With patterns covering more than 120 makes, Disruptiv has patterns for vehicles all over the world.

Collier: How important has community feedback been with that process?
Murray: Huge. A lot of pattern additions are directly based on community requests. We already have a big backlog of patterns ready to be uploaded, so when someone says, ‘Hey, I need this one,’ we check the list. If we have it, we can move it up in priority. Sometimes, it’s just a matter of indexing or fixing something small. That feedback helps us a ton.

Collier: What’s the feedback been like regarding pattern accuracy and performance?
Murray: Overall, it’s been great. Some small bumps here and there, but nothing major. One powerful feature we have is user kits. If a pattern doesn’t fit, users can submit details, and we’ll make quick adjustments. With their input, we can have a modified pattern up within a day or two. It takes cooperation, since we don’t have the car in front of us, but when they do, it speeds everything up.

Collier: You’ve created a responsive support system. Do people notice the difference?
Murray: People are surprised we offer as much support as we do, even before they’ve paid. Some are just trying the software, and I’ll help them troubleshoot, look at photos, walk them through it all. That personal connection goes a long way.

Collier: Let’s talk trials. What’s the current policy?
Murray: Anyone can try Disruptiv. Doesn’t matter what film you use. It’s a 14-day trial with cut credits included. Most people don’t even use all their credits before the trial ends. And it’s important to note: the full subscription has unlimited cuts. No credit caps once you’re in.

Collier: You gave out custom Disruptiv-themed candy. What inspired that?
Murray: I’ve always liked watching videos of people making custom candy. It fascinates me—how they get the designs inside. I thought: what’s something small, fun, and different that hasn’t been done yet? Sending out candy with the Disruptiv logo on each piece felt like a cool, personal touch.

Collier: What’s your favorite part of being Disruptiv’s Program Manager?
Murray: Honestly, I’ve always loved software as a solution. But what’s exciting here is approaching it differently than a typical software company. We’re setting a new standard for what customer support and value look like in this space.

Collier: Let’s say you’re in an elevator with someone subscribed to another software platform. What’s your elevator pitch?
Murray: Tech is evolving. AI is shifting how we scan and process patterns. Accuracy is only going to improve from here—and we’re getting ahead of that curve. At Disruptiv, we’re not just keeping up with change; we’re pushing to connect people with emerging pattern technologies faster than anyone else. And when pattern availability becomes the norm, our customer experience and personal support will set us apart from the pack.

Collier: And the community shapes it as it grows?
Murray: We’re building a community that cares and contributes. They’re part of the program.
