Window film advancements are a constant at the annual International Window Film Conference & Tint-Off (WFCT). But Huper Optik is showcasing more than new products at this year’s gathering in Virginia Beach, Va. The supplier partnered with several companies to create a unique coffee roast for attendees to enjoy at its Sit N’ Sip Coffee Bar this September 20-22.

Joining Forces

Huper Optik teamed up with Minas Espresso Inc. in Edwardsville, Ill., and Heather Humphrey, Head Chef at Sweet Little Things LLC in East Alton, Ill., to bring the vision to life. All parties connected and combined forces in early August.

“I would love to do more of this,” says Craig Cottingham, Account Manager at Minas Espresso. “All of us have gifts. Why not collaborate? I knew from our first conversation, we were going to make it happen.”

Cottingham worked with Humphrey to perfect the flavor. Huper Optik’s DREI coffee blend features smooth, sweet, and nutty flavor notes. Minas Espresso’s coffee beans, sourced from Central and South America, contribute to a memorable taste.

“I have a knack for putting together scents and flavors,” says Humphrey. “I look into the science of it–what meshes together and what has the same properties? The one that we came up with is perfect. It’s got smooth and bold notes. It’s a medium roast, so you’re going to get a lot of caffeine but not as much as you would from a light roast.”

Connecting Over Coffee

“As suppliers, it’s important for us to make the most of industry events, considering the significant costs involved,” says Huper Optik CEO David Kratz. “That’s why we strive to create a memorable experience for attendees. We recognized the need to stand out among other exhibitors, so we infused some excitement into the event by offering custom-flavored coffee. This unique touch not only sets us apart but also adds a delightful element to the overall experience.”

Kari Yochum, VP of Design at Huper Optik, played a major role in the project.

“Designing the coffee bar project for Huper Optik was an absolute blast,” Yochum says. “From brainstorming with David Kratz for the concept, goals, inspirations, and styling to putting the finishing touches in place, every moment of this project was filled with excitement and creativity.”

A Warm Welcome at WFCT

Yochum, who designed the coffee bags with packaging provider Roastar, says the opportunity to blend the Huper Optik brand with the inviting ambiance of a coffee bar was a unique and enjoyable challenge.

Americans drink about 146 billion cups of coffee per year, according to research from Urban Bean Coffee. In under two weeks, WFCT attendees will certainly add to that total at Huper Optik’s Sit N’ Sip Coffee Bar.

“The real fun will be the joy of watching attendees sip their lattes in our custom space,” Yochum shares.
