Boyd Hunter, the Founder of The Tint School, will discuss the benefits of structured training programs at Autobahn, Huper Optik, and Edge’s 2024 Dealer Conference. The gathering will take place at LeMay – America’s Car Museum in Tacoma, Wash., from March 4-6, 2024.

Training Talk

“We’ll discuss the benefits of structured training programs versus learning at a tint shop from a tinter or a business owner,” shares Hunter, an industry veteran of two decades. “We have unrivaled success when it comes to training students in an efficient, effective way.”

Established in 2008, The Tint School stands as a prominent educational resource dedicated to equipping aspiring installers with comprehensive skills across diverse industry segments. Over the years, it has successfully trained more than 1,400 individuals, fostering expertise and proficiency in their respective fields.

“Structured training takes away a lot of external factors—ringing phones, customers asking questions, and working on cars worth $50,000 or more,” Hunter adds. “By removing all of this pressure, we can get down to tinting windows. If you make a mistake, it’s not a big deal. We’re training. That’s how we get the results we get.”

The training curriculum at The Tint School encompasses automotive window tinting, paint protection film (PPF), ceramic coatings, and vehicle wraps. The entry-level program is designed to be completed over a two-day period, with a low student-to-trainer ratio of three to four students per class.

“We teach a standardized way of tinting to get you started,” Hunter says. “You won’t be learning any bad habits. We teach a couple different ways to tint side windows and rear windshields. The trainer adapts the sessions around the trainees.”

Starting in Sydney, Australia, and Temecula, Calif., The Tint School has now expanded its reach with programs in Atlanta, Ga., and Dallas, Texas.

Autobahn – Australia Launch

In addition to his role at The Tint School, Hunter is the Founder of Tinta Tools, and the General Manager at Premier Film Distribution (PFD).

PFD, the exclusive distributor for Autobahn’s new Dealer and Distribution Network in Australia, orchestrated successful launch events in both Sydney and the Gold Coast. The January 2024 launch marks a significant milestone for Autobahn’s global expansion efforts.

“The response is overwhelming,” shared Hunter. “I’ve had non-PFD customers reach out, showing that Autobahn will expand beyond our internal dealer network. We will be working with new businesses, which we are excited about. The quality of Autobahn’s film is there. But the quality of the people is what stands out even more.”
