Autobahn, a leading supplier of premium automotive window tint, paint protection film (PPF), and ceramic coatings, is expanding its North American presence through strategic partnerships with new dealers in exclusive territories.
Boone Tint Worx now offers Autobahn’s full suite of solutions to drivers in Boone, North Carolina. Owner/Operator Gray Huffman chatted with Chris Collier, Director of Communications at Autobahn, about his business and journey.
Chris: Tell us about your business and the services you offer.
Gray: Window tinting is the main focus at Boone Tint Worx, but I also do lift kits and audio systems when the tint schedule allows. Right now, I’ve got window tint projects scheduled four weeks out.
Chris: How did you first get into window tinting?
Gray: Back in high school in 2014, I bought a vehicle. I had always wanted tinted windows but didn’t want to pay somebody to install it. I tinted it myself with some cheap film, and friends quickly started asking me to tint their cars. Eventually, I got better materials, and it just grew from there. By 2015, I was tinting professionally, and I’ve had my own shop for several years now.
Chris: What has your Autobahn experience been like so far?
Gray: I’ve really enjoyed it. Everybody on the team has been super helpful and polite. The window tint itself, I am very satisfied with. I just tinted two cars for a customer, and he said, ‘Dude, that is the cleanest looking film I have ever seen.’ And I’ve tinted several cars for him. Seeing customers so happy and excited with the transformation … that’s why I do what I do. It inspires me.
Chris: What made you decide to join the Autobahn network?
Gray: I used other film brands for years, but I wasn’t happy with the quality. I started researching professional films and came across Autobahn on Instagram. All reviews pointed to it being quality. I reached out and was connected with my Territory Manager Mike Powell. He’s been great to work with. Anytime I have any questions, he’s there. Just last week, Autobahn’s Dealer Success Manager, Heide McGee, visited my shop. Autobahn truly cares about its customers.
Chris: What keeps you motivated every day?
Gray: As soon as I get to my shop, it’s a relief to me. I get to play my own music. If I want to blare my music, I blare it. I’ll listen to country, rap, all of it. When I’m sitting there running my blade and handling my heat gun, laying that film, it’s just satisfying. It puts me in a great mood. When I get home, my wife asks me how my day was, and I always say, ‘It was good.’ Tinting is my art.
Chris: What are your professional goals moving forward?
Gray: My goal is keeping customers happy and keeping what I have going long term. I’d love to involve my son when he’s older so Boone Tint Worx can become his, if it’s something he enjoys.
