Autobahn, a leading supplier of automotive window film, paint protection film (PPF), and ceramic coatings, is excited to announce a significant expansion of South Korea’s Dealer and Distribution Network. ByeongYeol Park, the esteemed Owner of Korea-Tinter in Gwangju, South Korea, will lead product distribution efforts in 2024 and beyond.

A 29-Year Climb

In a conversation with Chris Collier, Director of Communications for Autobahn, ByeongYeol Park reflects on his 29-year journey in the film industry. Starting part-time in 1994 during college, Park found joy in beautifying vehicles with his own hands.

Collier: What makes this industry unique?
Park: I liken window tinting to food. It is said that just as the taste of food varies depending on who cooks the good ingredients, the quality of tint varies depending on who installs the good film. I can make a lot of money with the effort I put in. I love my job. I enjoy working with my team members, Mr. Jeong Hun Moon and Ms. Vida Batobalani.

Collier: What is the window film scene like in South Korea?
Park: Most vehicles in Korea have tint. The reason is that car companies (Hyundai, Kia, etc.) give free tint coupons to car purchasers. This is not profitable for professional tinters. To survive in this free tinting market, you need to put in more effort.

Collier: Window tinting has taken you to the United States, Australia, Vietnam, Thailand, and China. Where to next?
Park: I have gotten to know many people involved in the global window film market. But there are many countries I have not traveled to yet. When I retire, I plan to travel to my friends’ tint shops around the world with my tinting tools. Meeting other people from around the world and sharing skills and knowledge about film is something I really enjoy.

Collier: Do you enjoy traveling to the United States for industry events like The International Window Film Conference & Tint-Off (WFCT)?
Park: I participate at WFCT each year. My favorite memory is placing first in the 2018 Automotive Tint-Off Competition in San Antonio, Texas. I’m trying to win two more championships, keeping my promise to Mr. Bill Burke who is in heaven.
