Media and entertainment platform Tint Fam hosted its inaugural live game show on Facebook on Thursday, March 28. More than 10 window film industry professionals competed in the event, showcasing their knowledge of the segment.
Raising Industry Awareness
“I’m always trying to find ways to make window tint more relatable to people on a larger scale,” shares Billy ‘Frickin’ Murray, Founder of Tint Fam.
Seen by a total of 476 users, Murray’s stream generated more than 300 comments and 30 reactions. Going forward, Murray plans to host at least one game show each month.
“It’s hard to put yourself out there,” says Murray, who conceptualized the game show a month ago. “It’s amazing to see that many people tuning in and playing the game. I felt blessed to have that many people want to be a part of it. It was tons of fun.”
The Game Show’s primary game sees competitors guess the average price of popular window film industry tools.
“I love Billy’s creativity,” shares Sean Gill, the Owner of The TintMan Gill LLC in Sumter, S.C. “His spin on this game show is both phenomenal and distinctive. I was expecting something Cliché when I signed in (a bunch of tint history questions that I wouldn’t know the answers to). What I got was the exact opposite. His spin on a tint game show is very relevant.”
The First Grand Prize
Charles Culp, Tint Specialist at Greeley Auto Spa in Greeley, Colo., emerged victorious, claiming the game show’s first grand prize — a bright red, vintage telephone with a twist.
“After the AT&T outage in February, I thought of the need for an emergency line,” Murray shares with a laugh.
Dubbed the Autobahn Emergency Line, the phone contains a collection of recorded impersonations featuring Autobahn’s Territory Managers: Mike Powell; Dave Dellinger; Jason Omoletski; Tony Kiger; Hannah Leigh Adams; Brodie Mathews; Kendal Watson; and, of course, Murray himself.
“The Tint Fam game show was an honor to be a part of,” Culp says. “I hope this is only the beginning of what is a fun and unique way of continuing to bring the industry together as a whole.”
The First Competitors
Before the show’s March 28 launch, Murray invited industry professionals to a test-run of the game show
“I invited them to a top secret online event without giving them any details and they showed up,” Murray shared. “They’ll go down in history for what they ended up being a part of.”
The following were the first to compete in the test run of the new game show:
- Kado Serri-Charette of Tint Wiz
- Wagon Guy of Alpha Bros Tinting in Henderson, N.C.
- Josh Welch, Photography and Video Production Specialist at Autobahn, Huper Optik, and Edge
- Jeremy Davis, Owner/Operator of Pro Tint LLC in Palm Coast, Fla.
- Jordan ‘Shady Jay’ Jernigan, Owner of Stay Shady Tinting in Greenbrier, Ark.
- Bruce Slusser, Owner of Precise Tinting in Lansing, Mich.
“Being a guinea pig for the Tint Fam Game Show was an honor,” Jernigan shares. “None of us knew what was going on at first but when Billy brought up the screen with the logo and background, we all were stoked. The creativity and hard work he put into it was very much evident. Never thought I would be on a game show in my life, and I’m glad it was this one. I can’t wait to see how this develops over the next few years.”
Tint Fam Magazine
In addition to a new game show, the Tint Fam brand offers comedic trading cards and stickers. Launching in 2022, Tint Fam Magazine dives deep with industry interviews.
“It’s not just that these people want to share their stories,” shares Murray. “Every single one of these people hope that one person can learn something from their story. The fact that they can potentially help someone makes it all worth it.”
