“I’ve always loved playing chess,” says Yohan Musle, who founded Florida’s Midnight Mobile Tinting in September 2020. “Whenever you make a move in chess or even in business, you’ve got to consider the next 10 moves as well.”

Mobile Momentum

Yohan has always looked one step ahead, and it’s paid off.

Specializing in automotive window tinting installations, Midnight Mobile Tinting serves a 60-mile radius stretching from Boca Raton to Jupiter, Fla. The company was recently named Edge’s Regional (South East) Dealer of the Year at Edge’s 2024 Dealer Conference at LeMay – America’s Car Museum, in Tacoma, Wash., on March 5, 2024.

“Even if you correlate the award to how much film a dealer purchases, it symbolizes that you’re doing really good work out there,” Yohan says. “People are still coming to you; people want to do work with you. It symbolizes our work ethic.”

Yohan steers his business with the help of his wife, Tatianna. Yohan also collaborates closely with Alberto Caballero, the esteemed lead tinting technician at Midnight Mobile Tinting. Having moved from Colombia to Florida during his teenage years, Caballero is dedicated to the art of window tinting. Beyond his professional pursuits, he’s passionate about the art of Brazilian jiu-jitsu.

“In the beginning, it was all about building a client base,” says Yohan, whose company currently has a five-star rating on Google with 177 reviews. “Our main source was Google Ads. My wife researched how to run successful Google Ads. I had to make sure to do a good job installing, generating as many Google reviews as possible. It’s hard to please everyone—but that’s what we strive for.”

Discovering an Art

Cuban-American Yohan has two bachelor’s degrees in Physics and Mathematics from Florida Atlantic University.

“If I didn’t go for the degrees that I did, I wouldn’t be where I am,” Yohan says.

During his studies, Yohan and his brother, Yusef, learned the art of window tinting on the side.

“He’s always been an artist, even when he was a kid,” Yohan says of his brother, who now owns a tattoo shop, Wooden Heart Tattoos and Piercings in Palm Beach, Fla. “He drew exceptionally well at a young age. He always saw himself as an artist/painter. From there, he found tattooing.”

Merging Into the Mobile Tinting Business

Operating a window tinting business is no easy feat, whether you sling film at a brick-and-mortar location or on the go. But the road could be a good place for an aspiring tinter to start.

“You have much less overhead, and you’re not as stressed at the end of each month,” says Yohan, who drives a wrapped 2023 Tesla Model 3 with a range of 280 miles. “If you’ve got a shop, you’ve got an electric bill, insurance costs, and leasing costs. If you’re just mobile, all you need is a place to sleep and store your supplies and a car to drive to jobs.”

Yohan adds, “You tint a car, and then you’re relaxing on the road while listening to music. Rinse and repeat. You’re not stuck in a shop cranking out cars. There are benefits to mobile tinting.”
