“I learned how to install truck accessories with my uncle as a teenager,” says Marcelo Boessio, a 30-year window film industry veteran. “I continued to learn more and improve myself, eventually installing window film on trucks.”
A Three Decade Journey
After completing a multi-year apprenticeship under the guidance of his uncle, Ivan, Boessio returned to his hometown. The window film industry witnessed significant growth, with an increasing number of companies and installers entering the booming market. Undeterred by the heightened competition, Boessio was well-prepared and embraced the challenge.
“I started looking for new techniques—becoming a reference in the city and region—as I was carrying out extremely high-quality work,” Boessio shares. “As I worked as an employee of a company, I saw the market grow and decided to open Special Films in Santa Maria, Brazil.”
Two decades later, Boessio has earned widespread respect as a highly-regarded professional throughout the country.
“I was one of the first in the region to participate in the International Window Film Conference & Tint-Off (WFCT),” says Boessio, who’s competed at five WFCT’s.
The hustle has paid off for Boessio, who has sought growth from a young age. He was elected President of the Brazilian Association of Window Film Representatives and Applicators (Abrawf).
He’s also a judge for The South American Window Film Conference and Championship event (CAMBAWF), which has helped develop the Brazilian and South American window film market.
“Ever since I was a kid, I’ve been hungry for knowledge,” says Boessio, whose company specializes in automotive and architectural window film installations.
A New Chapter
Boessio leads four team members at Special Films: Adriano Nazario, Júlia Hoffmann, Andressa Bento, and Carolini Cruz. The company recently joined Autobahn’s new Dealer and Distribution network in Brazil.
“The brand is a standout in the USA,” Boessio says of Autobahn. “There is differentiation. I am happy to know that we can deliver higher quality products to our customers with Autobahn.”
Boessio is also an established dealer for FilmStar Window Film, the Exclusive Distributor for Autobahn Brazil. With a team of 18, FilmStar Window Film is set to play a significant role in Autobahn Brazil’s Dealer and Distribution Network. The company will provide support in terms of logistics, distribution channels, and dealer relations, helping Autobahn establish a strong presence in the Brazilian market.
