“I lost my mom at the age of six years old,” says Brenden Mazur, Owner/Founder of BniceDetailing in Hudson, N.H. “She passed away from cancer. Times got tough after moving in with my dad. We ended up homeless. It’s a part of my life I will never go back to. I will make sure my family has food to eat, and a house to sleep in.”
Fighting Forward
Between the ages of 10 and 11, Mazur endured nights sleeping in the back of a car. Now, over two decades later, instead of evading the pain of his past, Mazur is wholeheartedly embracing it.
“You can have the worst beginning of life,” Mazur says. “How do you respond to it? I want to be known as a successful business owner. I want to be known as a teacher. I want to be known for the help I give others. No matter how hard you struggle in life, you can change the narrative. You have to move forward.”
Mazur did just that. Growing up, he developed a passion for serving others. After high school, he started working in various roles at the Sheraton hotel in Nashua, N.H.
“I started off as a dishwasher,” says Mazur, who entered the hospitality industry at 17 years old. “I moved on to being a server, a prep cook, and a line cook. I loved working at a fast pace and learning new things. Next thing you know, I was a head chef making dishes for people.”
Mazur adds, “When you get complimented on something you’re making from scratch? It’s an art. It was an eye opener. I wanted to see where it could go.”
Mazur worked in the hospitality industry from 2004 to 2017. During this period, he developed an itch for a different kind of art—detailing.
A Vacuum and a Dream
“Detailing was like cooking,” shares Mazur, who opened BniceDetailing in Hudson, N.H., in 2017. “I would cook someone’s food, and they would love it. I felt the same way when I detailed a car. I loved making customers happy. I started with a vacuum and a dream.”
Mazur operated BniceDetailing on a part-time basis for five years, developing customer service skills as a driver for Crown Uniform and Linen Service in Nashua, N.H. Encouraged by his wife, Marcy, he took a leap of faith and embraced detailing full-time in April 2022.
In February 2023, he diversified his services by offering window film as an Edge dealer.
“I purchased a $6,000 plotter with the majority of my savings,” Mazur says. “I had no idea what tinting was. When I started to tint windows, I was nervous. Especially when pulling panels because I didn’t want to break anything. I would go through three or four rolls on a car because I was training myself. I was striving to be perfect.”
Merging onto the Autobahn
Nearly a year later, Mazur is an Autobahn dealer hitting his stride. His company specializes in automotive and architectural window film, detailing, and paint protection film (PPF). He operates BniceDetailing with his business partner Eliza Cora.
“I love meeting new customers and interacting with new people,” Mazur says. “I’ve met so many great people.”
27 years removed from homelessness, Mazur is currently an active member of his local chamber of commerce, passionately dedicated to showcasing career opportunities for young adults.
“I want to help other kids who need a career,” he says. “There is no sense of defeat in me.”
